Going Tribal

My newest obsession are the beautiful prints of the fabulous Mara Hoffman. I feel like I am little late to the party as she has collaborations with companies like J.Crew and Madewell under her belt already this season. Her combinations of color and pattern make each of her pieces so unique. From maxi dresses to bikinis, she does it all, and she does it well. It's no surprise that many other designers and clothing lines have taken cues from her esthetic.

Luckily for those of us on a budget this spring, even Forever 21 has been inspired by Mara's designs. From cosmetic bags to hair accessories, dresses to mini skirts, there are plenty of tribal options in all kinds of colors to satisfy those of us wishing to pay homage to Hoffman without maxing out our credit cards.

Yes, there always is

Pink

Baublebar Enamel Links BraceletForever21 Crepe Woven Shift Dresskate spade ny 'jumper' sandal

I don't consider myself to especially girly, but I do love pink in my wardrobe. It's such a fun color that just screams "The nice weather is here!" These kate spade new york 'jumper' sandals are amazing. Keeping on eye on these and hoping they go on sale. Such a fun mix of flirty and feminine with the bow and grass bottom. The color may be rich but the price tag doesn't always have to be. Forever21 has this great crepe shift for under $35. It would be pretty with strappy nude sandals for a dinner date or paired with white converse and a baseball cap for a fun and unexpected brunch look. I have been inspired by Julia Engel's mix of tom boy and feminine pieces on her blog recently. Some of these pieces would be a fun way to mix pink into your wardrobe and make an outfit just a touch more girly. How would you mix pink into your wardrobe?

Help!

Our end of the year banquet is the one time during the year that everyone gets dressed up and parties hard all together. I have been searching for weeks for a great dress and have found nothing. J.Crew and Banana don't have anything formal enough. Asos is so overwhelming. Searching long sleeve mini dresses ends up with me lusting over dresses that cost more than my rent. My weekend goal is to get out there and try some dresses on. I have high hopes for you Nordstrom and Bloomies! Don't let me down! Does anyone have any suggestions for places to look for formal dresses?

Persimmon Pout

I love the orange lip trend. It's fun, flirty and great for summer. Orange is a great color to bring out sun-kissed skin. Even though it is only April the celebs have been rocking pouts from peach to persimmon from red carpet to runway.

You don't have to break the bank to get the look either. The new Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids collection has lots of orangey shades for any skin tone. Pick some up at Ulta this week and show off your persimmon-y pout this weekend!

Taken

Kate Spade is cuteness for grownups. Everything about KSNY is adorable, down to the designer herself. I think this bracelet is great. Her collection of items for girls getting married would make the perfect bridal shower or bachelorette gift. You don't get much cuter than "Mrs" earrings for a friend to wear on her honeymoon. Grown up taste with teenage charm. I like it!

Eyebrows

When Birchbox offered SoCal bloggers the chance to get a free threading at Ziba Beauty Eyebrow Salons, I was pumped. I have THE WORST eyebrows. They are wiry and crazy and the hairs grow with a kink in them. AWFUL! I am horrible at maintenance as well, so that certainly doesn't help.

I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for a few years now. I don't necessarily find it to be any easier or less painful than waxing, but I have had the experience of getting my skin burned and also wax in my hair and would never go back to that.

The Ziba location in Rancho Cucamonga is closest to my home so I chose to go there on a weeknight. There were about 3 people waiting to go before me and two women who were threading. The girl working the desk was friendly and informative. She promised me I wouldn't be waiting more than 15 minutes; in reality, it was only about 10. My threader was nice, efficient and asked me a few times if I was okay. I think I just make really awful faces because she made it as painless as possible.

The results were wonderful! She shaped them beautifully and showed me how to fill them in a little with a eyebrow crayon. They looked so nice I was sad it was a weekday evening and no one would see them. On my way out the girl at the desk gave me a loyalty card to earn free threading and a kit for maintenance at home. Score! It included a wax pencil to secure the hairs in place, the same crayon she had used to make my brows look fuller and a sharpener. I thought that was a great way to promote people to come back. I felt well-taken care of and like I mattered as a customer.

I highly recommend everyone in SoCal to go to Ziba for their eyebrow grooming needs. The salon is clean, pretty and efficient and the employees are nice, helpful and caring. For one of the more unpleasant beauty rituals, this was quite a pleasant experience.

That's What You Get For Waking Up in Vegas

We survived! Two suites at the Venetian, thirteen pairs of red plastic sunglasses, two jumbo bottles of vodka and a handle of Fireball and one Chippendales show later, I am home from my fabulous weekend in Vegas celebrating with one of the sweetest people in the world as she prepares to become a Mrs.  Here are some highlights...

But first let me take a selfie...
