Quote of the Day

Saw this on Tumblr this morning and loved it. This is how I want to think about facing my days :)

Polka Dot Keds

I love flip flops. Give me a pair of Havianas and I am a happy girl. But sometimes in the summer you just really need a closed toed shoe. When we got home from the Santa Monica Pier my feet were so dirty from running around in flip flops all day. I was disappointed that I hadn't made a wiser shoe choice. My usual go-to would be a pair of fun colored boat shoes, but I recently picked up these Keds in navy polka dot and I think they will be very cute with some shorts or a little sundress. They remind me of elementary school, in a good way. Taylor Swift is all over their ad campaigns lately which I guess is also why they are getting very popular again. I am not usually one to take fashion advice from TSwizzle, but in this case I am jumping on the bandwagon.

C.Wonder

It isn't news that I love Courtney Kerr. I think her style is amazing and she was downright hysterical on the show Most Eligible Dallas on Bravo. I am so excited for her solo show coming out this summer. A few days ago she posted on her blog about attending an event for C.Wonder. I had never heard of the company and didn't think much of it until I was planning a trip to Fashion Island in Newport Beach yesterday and the store popped up on the directory. I perused the website and loved all of the colorful, preppy styles, but nothing could have prepared me for how much I would love the store!

Shopping at C. Wonder is like a color overload. The esthetic is very east coast prepster so I was surprised to find a store like this in Southern California. I was not surprised, however, to hear that their flagship is in SoHo and they have popups all over the Hamptons these days. With 18 stores across the country and more opening soon, I can tell this brand is going to get really popular. I am pretty excited to keep it my little secret for awhile though.

As soon as I walked in I spotted this adorable striped blazer. I have seen a number of different ones around this season but this one really stuck out to me with its little details. Even better, it was 50% off sale and ended up costing me under $40. I was pumped. I also snagged a pair of jeans on sale for under $30. The fit and rise was perfect. They were super flattering and made me look like an adult, but aren't mom jeans. Other than at J.Crew I find it really hard to find good fitting jeans that really sit well on the hips and don't ride up and gap in the back. I am definitely a believer in this brand because they nailed their denim and that to me is a mark of greatness.

Another perfectly preppy thing the store offers is the ability to make many of their products your own. They will monogram a variety of items for just $10 and usually while you wait (or in our case continue to shop the mall). I decided to get a new summer bag and have my initials put on it. They have lots of thread colors and monogram styles to choose from an you can instantly make a piece totally your own.

The tote reminds me a little of a Longchamp but the handles seemed sturdier and I like the shape better. I got a gold monogram of my initials on the back. I think this is going to be a perfect summer staple and I can happily see myself investing in some of their other monogram pieces in the future. C. Wonder, you have completely won me over. I am in preppy girl heaven!

Banquet 2013

Our end of the year banquet came and went. I usually plan weeks in advance for my jewelry and shoes and get a great new dress. Believe me, I looked. Nothing really jumped out at me. So I decided to recycle an old favorite from wedding season last year, pair it with long hair instead of an updo and call it day. We had a really fun night and the pictures prove it!

Good friends. So happy to have these crazies in my life!

Pretty D3 girls

Some of my very best. Everyone looked gorgeous.

Green was the color of the night as proven by all these lovely ladies rocking emerald hues.

Birch Box

My first BirchBox arrived in the mail today! I am so excited to try the samples. There were some hair products, a sample of perfume and a baby sunscreen that is just too cute. I am really excited to try out the products. It can be hard to invest in pricy skin care, hair and makeup products when you aren't sure if you will actually like them. For $10 a month you can get a box of samples of great products and see what you like and what doesn't really work for you. Why didn't I think of this idea?

Sunday Obsession

Saw these on my newsfeed from the website Tobi and just about started drooling. I think these are just so cool. I can picture them with shorts or a feminine white sundress to give it some edge. I need to find these in store to try them ASAP!

Sucker for Seersucker

I am having a hard time getting my thoughts together for my personal statement so I decided to browse for a banquet/summer wedding dress. Everything I love is like $500. This dress is definitely not appropriate for a formal occasion, but it makes me swoon. Ruffles and seersucker and Factory, oh my! I need to see this in person immediately.
