Weekend Recap

Last weekend was great. I got to spend time with good friends and really enjoyed myself. On Friday night we went to see Identity Theft. It was hilarious. We thought the theater would be packed because of the rain and it was opening night, but when we walked in it was completely empty. It's always so much nicer to sit through a movie when the theater isn't crowded and loud. On Saturday night we decided it was super necessary to go out and hit The Griffin for mystery shots. We have no idea what they were, but it was $4 of pure deliciousness. After that we went to my new favorite bar downtown, Onyx. The atmosphere was perfect- great lighting and decor, young and hip crowd and a cover band playing jazzy versions of Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and Bruno Mars. Kendall and Kiran had fancy cocktails, but I couldn't resist a glass of my beloved Sea Glass Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara. We also split spicy garlic fries which were delicious. I give it 5 stars. If you are looking for someplace classy and chill downtown Onyx is a must. On Sunday I got the cutest pair of boyfriend jeans from Old Navy. I can sometimes be really loyal to a few stores, but I am finding more and more that when I venture outside my normal shopping stops I can actually score some really great finds. I am super excited to pair these jeans with heels and a button down or cardigan for a casual, but put together look.

On a completely unrelated note, I had a pretty awful day. I am putting it past me now. I just want to say how grateful I am for the incredibly supportive people in my life. When I played hockey in high school after really rough losses my coach would make the bus driver stop at McDonald's to get us french fries. He would literally go in and order 25 small fries. You'd think maybe he would be mad that we didn't play hard enough or give our all, but instead he recognized how we had busted out butts and sometimes that just doesn't pay off. On my way home I stopped through the McDonald's drive thru to get some french fries and thought of Freddie. He passed away a few years ago, but sometimes in weird moments like this or when I go to a hockey game, or the rare moment I actually have a chance to get on the ice myself, I think of him. People come into our lives for different reasons and today I just needed to think of Freddie and eat some french fries. RIP FG <3
